From findagrave.com, Feb 2015: Obituary for Friday, August 15, 2003 A memorial service for Hazel Minter Ward, 88, was held Wednesday, Aug.13, at Northwest Hills United Methodist Church, Austin, with Rev. Chris Bistline officiating. Private burial services were to be held at a later date in Sulphur Springs. Hazel was formerly a resident of Sulphur Springs and was a member of the United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the PEO, Waverly Club, and Woman's Forum. She had been a 20-year resident of Austin. Hazel attended East Texas State University in Commerce and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Latin. Hazel Minter Ward passed away on Sunday, Aug. 10. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe P. Ward; daughter Jennifer Ruth Ward; and parents Scott and Berry Gibson, and Grigsby and Adele Minter. She will be sadly missed by her daughters, Jo Wicker and husband Weldon of Austin, Alice Grabow and husband Terry of Austin; grandchildren, Melissa Virnau of Sealy, Chris Geck of Long Beach, Calif., Nancy Nance of Austin, Arthur Mason of San Antonio; 10 great-grandchildren; and sister Ruth Minter of Austin. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Hazel's honor to the Long Center for the Performing Arts, c/o Mary Herr, Director of Development, 501 W. Third St., Austin, TX, 78701.
