Notes	Per findagrave.com: Children: Vonie V Simms Greer (1903 - 2000) Hazel Simms Grooms (1906 - 1993) Bruce Pate Simms (1908 - 1980) Pat Harvey Simms (1914 - 1972) May 2021: in an email, Joseph's great grandson Charles (Chuck) Mitchell said that Joseph "was murdered in 1925 in Sulphur Springs, 90 miles East of Dallas". Chuck added the following: "From what I was told as a kid, it was over a debt. It’s unknown how much or what type of debt. Joe was asking for payment and was stabbed in the back.  Some years later, the man was paroled and my Grandfather was the barber in the small farm town of Como. He came into the shop for a haircut, not knowing who my Grandfather was, and as my Grandfather admitted years later, he was tempted to slice the man’s neck with his shave blade. Unknown what happened after that. If he knew the barber was the son of the man he killed......???"
