| Notes |
- April 2013. Until now the head of the Hammersmith group of Minters has been Richard Minter, born about 1785 in Hammersmith.
The addition to the group of Walter Minter as its head is highly specuative, as is the addition of Thomas Minter as Walter's son and hence Richard's brother. I took the decision to expand the group in this way following a study of transcripts of the All Saints, Fulham and St Pauls Hammersmith* parish registers available online from Ancestry.com. Unfortunately the available transcripts run only from 1801 to 1812 and thus don't cover the later part 1700s which might tell us more about Walter, eg his marriage, and Thomas and Richard, eg their birth/baptisms.
The reason for choosing 'Walter' as the possible name of the head of the group is that a Walter Minter was buried at All Saints, Fulham on 17 April 1803: the register does not say 'son of ...' as it usually does for non-adults, so it's fair to assume that the burial was of an adult called Walter Minter.
One other thing suggests that the above is reasonable: one of Thomas Minter's sons was named Walter, not a common Minter name, possibly after his grandfather.
Walter's wife might have been called Mary - a Mary Minter aged 53 of Fulham Lane was buried at Fulham All Saints on 22 January 1815.
* the Hammersmith PR yielded no Minters but showed that John and Mary CLACK had three children baptised: Ann on 8 Oct 1805, Elizabeth bap. date missing but born 2 Mar 1808, and Richard on 2 Sep 1810 (born 3 Aug 1810). John Clack might have been Margaret and Mary CLACK's brother.
