| Notes |
- The 1850 census (details at the record of Joseph Gooch Minter) makes it look as if William was William B MINTER. However, after extensive on-line searches, I've come to the conclusion that the entry was probably for William D Minter. His name appears in very few documents on line: the most significant is the entry at findagrave.com, where we can see a photo of a gravestone for Wm. D. MINTER, born 7 September 1838, died 11 May 1867. The entry at findagrave.com contains useful information about William's wife and her re-marriage following William's death. The re-marriage is possibly significant in that it was with a member of the Terry family, which was already linked to the Minters.
Before he died, William and Sarah had a son, Charley. In the 1870 census he appeared with his step-father William CALLENDAR, and 1880, with an uncle, Logan STUBBS.
I can't find Wiliam in the 1860 census.
