The 1881 British census lists Susan as age 25 and lodging with Eliza Hobday in Hackney, London. In 1914 Susan was the owner of the portrait "The beautiful Auburn haired girl with the pretty coloring" who was Susan Churchyard daughter of Isaac and Susannah Baxter painted by John Smart, Portrait Painter, step - son of Isaac. The British 1901 census records Susan as being aged 44, living [at 42 The Avenue] Tottenham England and her occupation was Assistant Mistress at a Secondary School [her sister Louisa, 40, was living with her and her brother Alfred lived next door]
