- 1861 census: at No. 6, Ct 1, Wellington St, Barnsley, Yorkshire (all IBBESON, born Barnsley) George (head, 31, labourer in coal mine), Mary Ann (wife, 27), Mary Jane (daughter, 6), Henry (son, 4), Sarah Ann (2) and Joseph (2 months *). Also Sarah Ann COOPER (sister in law, unmarried, 22, power loom linen weaver, born Barnsley) and Martha Ann COOPER (sister in law, 20, born Barnsley).
* this doesn't tally with Joseph having been baptised in September 1860.
George IBBESON's death at age 38 was registered at Barnsley in Q1 1867.
1871 census (indexed by ancestry as Joseph Ibba??): at 13 High Street, Barnsley (all IBBESON, born Barnsley except for Mary Ann) Mary Ann (head, widow, 28 (sic), general servant (crossed out), born Ardsly, Yorks), Mary Jane (daughter, 16, general servant), Henry (son, 14, labourer at pit), Sarah Ann (12, general servant at home), Joseph (son, 9 (sic)) and Thomas (son, 6).
Mary Ann IBBESON re-married in Q1 1877, registered at Barnsley, to Robert WALLER and appeared with him in the 1881 census:
1881 census: at 15 Havelock Street, Barnsley (all born Barnsley except for Robert) Robert WALLER (head, 56, linen weaver, born Kendal, Westmoreland), Anne WALLER (wife, 49), Henry IBBESON (son, 24, coal miner), Mary IBBESON (daughter, 26), Joseph IBBESON (son, 20, cotton dyer), Thomas IBBESON (son, 15, accountant's errand boy) and Albert J IBBESON (son, 8, scholar).
1891 census (indexed as IBBLSON by ancestry): at 10 Well Street, Barnsley (both IBBESON, born Barnsley), Joseph (head, 29, coal hurrier) and Elizabeth (wife, 23).
John J Minter reports that Joseph died at 10, Well Street, Racecommon Road, Barnsley in 1892, aged just 30. He was buried in Grave Z191, Barnsley Cemetery on the 25th of May, 1892.
There was an entry for him in the Barnsley Chronicle of Saturday, 28th of May, 1892.
