    • BIOGRAPHY: Marlin P. J. MINTER was born at Pine Forest, Hopkins, Texas, in 1909. His father died when he was only six years of age. He went to high school and finished at Sulphur Springs. He registered at Texas Technological College, as it was known then, now known as Texas Tech University. He worked in a home as a baby sitter and handyman for his keep, and he graduated in 1935 with a degree in electrical engineering. He was a member of the Lubbock Rotary Club, and he served on the board of directors of The American Red Cross and of the Better Business Bureau. He also was a member of the Texas Tech Department of Electrical Engineering Academy, and he was a century member of the College of Engineering. He was a Texas registered professional engineer, and a life member of the IEEE. While attending Tech he was a cheer leader.
      He was named an honorary member of the Texas Tech Saddle Tramps in 1989.
      Marlin worked 11 years during the 30's and 40's for General Electric and was stationed at Schnectady, NY; Ft. Wayne, Ind., and Chicago. Later, he taught electrical engineering for four years at Tech. Leaving that, he opened MINTER'S, a repair shop for small electrical appliances, which he and his wife operated for twenty-five years. He made several endowed scholarships to Tech.
