  Notes	Apprenticed blacksmith. Admitted as a freeman of Canterbury on 18 March 1777 by apprenticeship. Owner of house at Ashford in 1790. Perhaps the owner, "Edward Minter", of about one and a quarter acres of land in St Mildred's parish, put up for sale and advertised in the Kentish Gazette of Sept 6 1793. James Earley found this item. Moved from the Castle public house in Castle Street, Canterbury to the Queens Head in October 1793. A victualler of St Margarets, Canterbury in 1796. Master of the Castle public house in 1788. Listed in Kent Polls of 1790 and 1802 and in the Canterbury Polls of 1780, 1796, 1818, 1830, 1832 and 1835 and in the East Kent Polls of 1830 and 1832. A stable keeper of Rose Lane, Canterbury in 1803 (An Historical Sketch of the County of Kent collected from the celebrated Works of Camden, Harris, Seymour, Philipot, Hasted &c with a Directory...in two parts... by W French. Part First 1803). A corn factor of Rose Lane in 1818. A corn dealer with son in 1823 and 1824. Edward & John Minter, corn chandlers, Rose Lane (Pigots Directory of Kent, 1826 - 27). A corn dealer of St Andrews, Canterbury in 1830. A corn dealer of St Mary Bredin with house and stables and yard in Rose Lane and Watling Street, Canterbury and a mill at Chilham - Minter & Co, millers of Chilham (Pigots Directory of Kent, 1826 - 27). Coal merchant & corn chandler, Rose Lane (Pigot's Directory of Kent, 1839). A witness at St Mary Bredin, Canterbury on 11 February 1773, on 22 June 1775, and on 17 August 1778. A witness at St Peter, Canterbury on 2 October 1779. A witness at St Mary Bredin, Canterbury on 14 May 1781. Probably witness at St Mildreds, Canterbury on 21 October 1783. A witness at St Andrews, Canterbury on 7 April 1795. Will proved 12 March 1836 Canterbury Arch. Court. Buried 'as of St Mary Bredin', aged 79. Tombstone at Thanington: Sacred to the memory of Mary the wife of Edward Minter of the parish of St Mary Bredin in the City of Canterbury who departed this life September 8, 1827 aged 60 years. Also of Edward Minter husband of the above named who died December 4, 1834 age 79 years.
