- 1851 census: an entry for John KINTER, a grocery shopman aged 22, born Faversham, at Wood Street, St Mary, Walthamstow, Essex seems likely to relate to this John.
London Electoral Registers, 1860, 1861 list John Minter, 58 High Street, Notting Hill. Qualification: house as occupier at the rent of £50 and upwards.
1861 census: at 58 High Street, St Mary Abbotts, Kensington, London, John (32, draper), Emma (23), Frances (2) and Samuel T (4 months), plus Thomas (18, auctioneer and surveyor, born Faversham) - John's nephew, probably his brother Henry's son.
Listed in Post Office Directories 1861as John Minter, linendraper, 58 High Street, Notting Hill and in 1870 at 105 - 107 High Street, Notting Hill.
1871 census: at Hughenden House in Ealing, London, John (42, draper), Emma (33), Samuel T (10, scholar), Arthur J (7, scholar), Frank (6, scholar), Percy (5, scholar) and Edith K (1). Daughter Frances (as Fanny, 12) was a scholar at the Marlborough House Ladies Boarding School in Exeter.
John and Emma had two more children, twins, in Q2 1873 but they didn't survive. Their births and deaths were registered at Hampstead without names:

London Electoral Registers, 1874, 1876, 1877 list John Minter, 2 Irongate Wharf, Paddington. Qualification: joint owner of land and brick-stools at Southall Green and North Hyde brickfields. On the same page is listed Samuel Tildesley, with the same details.
London Electoral Register, 1876 lists John Minter of Ealing W. Qualification: occupier of land at North Hyde, Heston.
London Electoral Register, 1878 lists John Minter, 2 Irongate Wharf, Paddington. Qualification: occupier of stable & loft at 17A, Holtham Road, Ealing.
Listed in Post Office Directories 1871& 1880 as John Minter, brick manufacturer, also as Tildesley & Minter.
1881 census: at Cippenham Lodge, South Road, Norwood, Surrey, John (52, brick manufacturer employing 100 men and boys), Emma (43), Frances (22), Samuel T (20, clerk in father's business), Frank (16, scholar), Percy (15, scholar) and Edith K (11, scholar). Florence TILDESLEY, 20, niece, milliner, born Melbourne, Australia was staying with the family.

John Minter, ot Cipenham Lodge, Southall, in the county of Middlesex, and of Milton-next-Sittingbourne, in the county of Kent, and late of No. 15, South Wharf, Paddington, Middlesex, Brick Manufacturer, trading as Tildesley and Minter.
THE creditors of the above-named John Minter who have not already proved their debts, are required,
on or before the 19th day of December, 1883, to send their names and addresses, and the particulars of their debts or claims, to me, the undersigned, Roderick Mackay, of No. 3, Lothbury, in tbe city of London, Chartered Accountant, the Trustee under the liquidation, or in default thereof tbey will be excluded from the benefit of the Dividend proposed to be declared.'97 Dated this 10th day of December, 1883.
