    Notes
    • Ancestry.com has Arthur's army discharge papers, which were used when Arthur claimed a disabilty pension. They show that Arthur joined the army on 12 July 1918 at The Isle of Grain, When the form was completed Arthur's address was 323 Sherrard Road, Manor Park, London E12. He had served in the 18th Battalion of the Gloucestershire Regiment and had served as a private in France. Before joining up he worked as a warehouse manager for Messrs Monks Bros Successors, 83 Wood Street, London EC2. Arthurs' disability was an injury to his left knee - he 'over-reached himself during a football match'. He was examined on 8 June 1918 when his declared age was 30 years 7 months.

Arthur's service record gives his next of kin as wife, address 323 Sherrard Road, Manor Park. (As at October 2007, Arthur's wife hasn't been identified**).

Arthur was transferred to the reserves and was given notice that he was required again on 12 July 1918.

** March 2009. Arthur's wife has now been identified from son Arthur Edward William's birth certificate as 'Maggie Minter formerly Carrol' (Arthur Edward William was born at 323 Sherrard Road). However, the name 'Carrol' is problematic and may be a mistake: the marriage certificate shows that Arthur Minter married a Maggie Carroll WILLISON on 22 July 1911 in Hendon and a further 2 children were registered with WILLISON as mother's maiden name. One of these was called Hayden and in the 1901 census, one of Maggie C WILLISON's brothers was shown as 'Hadden W'.

Arthur Minter is shown on his son Arthur Edward William's birth certificate as a Drapery warehouseman.

1921 census: at 323, Sherrard Road, East Ham, Essex (all MINTER), Maggie (wife, 33y4m, married, born Hendon Parish, home duties), Arthur E W )son, 8y 9m, born Manor Park, Essex, whole time school), Marjorie E (daughter, 6y 7m, born Manor Park, Essex, whole time school), Hayden A (son, 2y 2m, born Manor Park, Essex) and Iris A (daughter, 5 months, born Manor Park, Essex)
