  Notes	1901 census: Henry (24) and brother Sydney (17) both locomotive fitters, were boarders at 4 Whitfield Street, Hunslet, Yorkshire. Head of the household was Emily HARTLEY (26, presser tailoring, born Leeds) and her sister Alice (19) was also there. UK, Outward Passenger Lists, 1890-1960, at Ancestry, Feb 2013. The second class passenger lists for March 1905 include, on the same ship bound for St Johns, New Brunswick: Henry B LAKE, farmer, 28 Mrs LAKE, wife, 28 Wm(?) LAKE, 1 [presumably their son Vernon Sheridan LAKE] Sydney A LAKE, joiner, 21 [Henry's brother]. The 1906 Canada Census of Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta (at Ancestry) includes (all LAKE): Henry, head, 28, born England, arrived Canada 1905 "Francis", wife, 29, born England Vernon, son, 2, born England Arthur, son, 3 months, born Manitoba. The family must have returned to England then gone back to Canada - they, together with Henry's brother Gerald, were on the Lake Manitoba bound for Quebec in June 1909. The 1911 Census of Canada (at Ancestry) for Winnipeg, Manitoba includes (all LAKE): Henry B, head, born Dec 1877, age 3-, arrived Canada 1905, born England, chemist C Frances, wife, born May 1878, age 33, arrived Canada 1905, born England Vernon S, son, born May 1904, age 7, arrived Canada 1905, born England Arthur B, son, born April 1906, born Manitoba UK Incoming Passenger Lists, 1878-1960 at Ancestry shows that Henry and family returned to England in March 1913 on the Empress of Britain (all LAKE): Henry, engineer, 36 Clara, wife, 37 Vernon, child, 8 Arthur, child, 6. The same source shows that Henry Barker LAKE, engineer, aged 42, Clara Frances LAKE, 40, Vernon LAKE, 18 and Betty LAKE*, 13 arrived at Southampton on the Araguya from Lisbon on 22 July 1922, having been in Spain. Henry gave his proposed UK address as the South Western Hotel, Southampton. * Betty must have been born about 1909 while the family was in Canada. The same source shows that Henry Barker LAKE, engineer, aged 49 arrived at Southampton from Buenos Aires on the Alcantara on 19 April 1927.
