Notes |
- Ancestry.com has Frederick's service record in connection with a WW1 pension claim.
Frederick was 27, a bus driver, when he joined the Royal Garrison Artillery on 29 February 1916. He served in France as a signaller from 17 March to 28 July 1918. He was transferred to the Z Reserves on 8 March 1919, address given as "Woodside", Baronsmere Road, E Finchley, N London. Next of kin Henry Minter, same address.
Frederick's pension claim was based on synovitis of the right knee, caused by twisting in the trenches whilst on OP Duty, but this was put down to an old football injury and his claim was rejected (although he was assessed to be 10% disabled).
Prior to joining up Frederick was a motor mechanic and bus driver. He worked at Messrs De Dion (1907 Ltd), Woodside Works, North Finchley, London N. On another document Frederick's trade is given as tool setter.

Although she is shown as married in the 1939 Register I don't think Hilda became Frederick William's wife until 1957: in Q1 that year the marriage of Frederick William Minter and Hilda M NORRIS was registered at Bridport RD.
Hilda can be found as NORRIS in the 1911 census - see her record.
The following announcement is from the Western Gazette, 14 July 1950:

The couple were married in Q3 1950.
Denise was Denise H D NORRIS whose birth was registered in Q2 1926 at Beaminster (5a/509), mother's maiden name Norris. She changed her name to Minter by Deed Poll.
