C. School, N. Shoreham. (2) George Henry (sic) born 21 Aug 1902 and Fredk. Charles born 22 Apr 1905, of 7 Freehold St, father George, started at Victoria Road Junior Mixed School, New Shoreham on 8 Sep 1913 and left to go to Old Shoreham School on 25 Sep 1914. According to an item in the National Archives (ref MINTER COR/1/3/2316 1 Nov 1926), Frederick committed suicide by placing himself on a railway line. He was 21, of 8 Mayflower Road, Haywards Heath, Sussex. July 2016: James Earley has found newspaper reports which confirm Frederick's suicide and give some background to it. As summarised by James: "I found a coroners meeting into his suicide. Frederick had become infatuated with a married woman. They married and six days later he committed suicide through guilt. However, it turns out that Frederick didn't even marry Mrs Vere of Haywards Heath and an advertisement confirming this was put in the paper." James Earley also sent me a newspaper report from earlier in 1926. He summarised the report as follows: "Frederick and his sister Nellie were in a motorcycle accident in January 1926. Frederick had a fracture to his leg and got arrested by the police." Copies of the newspaper reports are on the website.
