Web. 18 Oct. 2012.): AGED COUPLE ACCIDENTALLY GASSED The CORONER, Mr Bentley Purchase, recorded a verdict of "Accidental Death" in each case at the inquest at Hackney yesterday on the bodies of WILLIAM MARSH, 75, and his wife FANNY MARSH, 72, of Loddiges Road, Hackney, who were found dead in a gas-filled room on May 19. Mrs Marsh had been blind for some years. Frederick Harold Marsh, gasfitter, a son, said there was a gas ring and an incandescent burner in his parents' bedroom. It was his father's habit to get up early in the morning and make a cup of tea. He must have turned on the tap and then slipped and fallen. A doctor said death was from coal-gas poisoning and agreed that it was possible that the man fainted after turning on the gas, for he had heart disease. The CORONER said it was possible that Mr Marsh became giddy, collapsed, and was overcome.
