| Notes |
- Little known about Samuel except that he and Sarah (THROWER) were James Minter's parents, according to the latter's birth certificate. Samuel's occupation was soldier.
August 2009: I have now decided that Samuel was probably the son of Samuel and Mary Ann.
Samuel and Sarah are probably the couple shown in the 1841 census, both aged 22, living in Hempnall, Norfolk, where James was born. Son Samuel, born in 1840, isn't shown - he probably died as an infant, registered in Q2 1840 as Samuel THROWER (he was born before his parents married).
July 2010: thanks to Neville Daniels, the marriage of Samuel and Sarah THROWER has been tracked down to Q3 1840 (Depwade 13/63). Samuel's half of the marriage is however to be found in the BMD index under WINTER.
In 1851, Sarah (married, 33) and her son James (9) were living with her widowed father James THROWER in Hempnall, Norfolk. James THROWER's daughter Anne THROWER (41), washerwoman, and his grandson John THROWER (16) an agricultural labourer were also there. No sign of Samuel Minter - although Sarah was shown as married in this census, Samuel had probably died in Q1 1845 and been buried in Yarmouth.
It appears that Sarah married Isaac HENRY in 1851 and appeared with him in the 1861 census:
in Wallers Buildings, St Nicholas, Great Yarmouth, Isaac HENRY (41, general labourer, born Upton, Norfolk), Sarah HENRY (41, laundress, born Hempnall, Norfolk), John HENRY (son, 9, born Ormesby, Norfolk) and a lodger, Henry PATTERSON (2, born Ormesby, Norfolk). It's not know who the 2 year-old was.
