  Notes	Stephen Hunsley suggests that in addition to the children listed, Charles had two other children, daughters, Sarah and Ann. Stephen listed Jan and Mary without birth date/place: I have found Mary (1807) and also Hannah (1809) and wonder whether Hannah = Jan. In any event, I'm not including Jan. There is however some evidence to support the idea that Charles and Sarah had a daughter Sarah, or Sarah Ann at least. In 1835 'Sarah Ann Hunsley of this parish' married John SIMPSON in Messingham. One of the witnesses to the marriage was Mary Hunsley. I know of no other Sarah Ann Hunsley of Messingham who might have married in 1835 and the signature of the Mary Hunsley who witnessed the marriage looks very similar to that of the Mary Hunsley who witnessed the 1828 marriage of Hannah Hunsley and John Campbell. This isn't conclusive however. But another piece of evidence is fairly concusive: in 1871 John and Sarah Simpson were living in Waddingham, Lincs. With them was, among others, a niece, Charlotte Hunsley, aged 16, born Scotter. This was almost certainly the daughter of Sarah's brother John. There remain two unresolved questions: 1. where and when was Sarah Ann Hunsley born? I can't find her baptism. Here age on censuses between 1841 and 1871 varies: - 1841, 20, giving birth year 1821 +/-5 - 1851, 36, giving birth year 1811 - 1861, 40, giving birth year 1821 - 1871, 59, giving birth year 1812 - 1891, 74, giving birth year 1817 - 1901, 84, giving birth year 1817 - 1905, 88, giving birth year 1817 2. Who was the Mary Hunsley who witnessed the marriages in 1828 and 1835? The most likely candidate is the Mary Hunsley baptised in August 1807 - a sister to the two siblings whose marriages she witnessed. But this is only possible if she wasn't the Mary who was buried in Messingham in August 1808. I can't see a way of resolving this one. Given all the above, I'm including Sarah Ann as a child of Charles and Sarah, and am opting for a birth year of 1817. Son John's baptism on 21 Feb 1815 appears in the Messingham Parish register but there's another entry for a John Hunsley on 9 June 1819. For some reason, the entry has been altered: it originally gave Hannah of Messingham as the parent (no father's name) but this has been crossed out and Sarah & Charles of Wombwell Nr. Barnsley inserted. I don't know what this means but have not included the 1819 John as a child of Charles and Sarah. 1841 census: the following appears to refer to Charles's widow: in Messingham, Sarah HUNSLEY (60, independent). Charles, of Messingham common, aged 68, was buried at Messingham on 24 December 1837.
