      Jessie's death certificate gives: age 90, of 14 Wyndham Road, Dover, widow of George Minter labourer/driver (Corporation), causes of death cerebral vascular insufficiency and acute chronic bronchitis, informant A L Matticks, daughter of 1 Northbourne Avenue, Dover.

      April 2014: email from Sheila Kilvington, granddaughter of Jessie Alice, saying she believes the Knowler family goes back to Mary Knowler, daughter of John Knowler, who married Lord Digby, became the Countess Digby and died in 1794.

      Lord Digby's family goes back to Sir Everard Digby (c. 1578 - 30 January 1606), a member of the group of provincial English Catholics who planned the failed Gunpowder Plot of 1605. Digby was captured and taken to the Tower of London. He was tried on 27 January 1606. Despite an eloquent defence, he was found guilty of high treason, and three days later was hanged, drawn and quartered.

      Comment of the above by John Minter: Such evidence as I can find on the web suggests that the Mary Knowler who married Lord Digby was one of the two daughters of John Knowler, the Recorder of Canterbury. I've been unable to find any evidence that John Knowler had any male heirs.
      What looks like the best informed public member tree at Ancestry (the Gnot/Knowler Family Tree 2nd Edition) gives John Knowler's dates as July 1686 - 7 July 1763 and has no mention of any sons. However, Jessie Alice Knowler is in the same tree as John Knowler and so it appears from this that she was indeed related to the Digby family.
