- A letter dated February 4 1994 written by Frances M DROLL of San Antonio, Texas, addressed to The Ministery of Interior, Persons and Censors Department, Pretoria, South Africa sought information about Frances' two uncles, Francis Adolphus and Ernest George Holm. It contained the following information about Francis Adolphus:
Birthplace England 1888-89. Was a member of the South African Bowling Team in the late 1930s.
Children: Esme Holm and Clarence Holm, born in Durban
Esme Holm's first husband was killed in World War II, she remarried and her last known name was Huckstra, last information known possibly living in Rhodesia.
Clarence Holm served in the war.
The reply to this letter dated 3 March 1994 included the following:
"Francis Adolphus Holm, born 12 March 1889, died on 31 May 1971 at Durban. His son Clarence Frederick Holm, born 28 February 1919 and daughter Esme Lorna Hoekstra, born Holm on 18 November 1922, are still alive."
Erica Minter's tree at Ancestry.com includes another son, Dudley Sinclair Holm, born 1917, Johannesburg, died 1 Jul 1959 at Ladysmith on Durban road.
