Paid rates as residing at Wingham Green in 1849, 1854 and 1864. Awarded two pounds in 1856 at Woodnesborough ploughing match as hop drier at Wingham Court with best managed sample. 1861 census: at Wingham Green, Henry (60, a widower, an ag. lab). Buried on the 5 December 1878 at Wingham age 77. 1871 census (indexed as MENTER bu ancestry.com): at Preston Hill, Wingham, Kent, Henry (lodger, unmarried, 70, ag lab, born Ickham). Lodging with George & Harriet SOLES.

Cliff Minter notes that at dates later than 1799, William signed his name, so it's not clear why he marked in 1799 unless it was the easy option if he was unfamiliar with writing his name.
