  Notes	Gary Owen GREENWOOD died Wednesday, 28 Dec 1994, in Charlottesville, Virginia, at the age of 47, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident which occured 21 Dec 1994. He was preceded in death by his father, F. Jack GREENWOOD in 1969. Gary graduated from Kinkaid School in Houston, Texas, in 1965. He attended the University of Virginia at Charlottesville, where he was awarded a BA degree in music in 1971. Later, he became a graduate student there, and at the time of his death he was a candidate for a Master's degree in applied mathmatics and computer science.He was a resident of Charlottesville. He was a teacher at Piedmont Virginia Community College. During the Viet Nam War Gary served his country as an orderly at the University of Virginia Hospital as an alternative to military service. In the Charlottesville area he was a well known and a respected performer and composer of contempary music. His band, POSSUM DELIGHT, performed in Virginia and in Texas. He also operated LENA'S DANCE, a restaurant near the University Corner in Charlottesville. In addition to his other talents, Gary was a gifted cabinet maker and created exquisite furniture for his personal use. He was a dedicated naturalist, and maintained an abiding interest in agriculture, particularly at a mountain farm in Highland County, Virginia, which he restored. Mr. GREENWOOD was a skilled photographer, and his lifelong quest for knowledge extended to amature astronomy; the study of the old English language; the restoration of antique equipment and the processes of cider pressing. He was an enthusiastic hiker, and was a lifetime member of the Sierra Club.
