(6, scholar). * Rebekah was correctly Rebecca. She appears here as Rebecca Elizabeth M Minter because that's the name she used when she married. When son Ernest Edward was baptised his parents were noted 'of Ashmanhaugh'. 1901 census: in Walsham Road, Hemblington All Saints, Walter (43, groom), Caroline (48), Arthur W J (18, ordinary ag lab), Ernest E (16, ordinary ag lab). 1911 census: at 13 Back Greenman, Rackheath, Norfolk (5 rooms), Walter (head, 53, married, horseman on farm, worker, born Rackheath, Norfolk), Caroline (wife, 61, married 31 years, 3 children all living, born Ketteringham, Norfolk), Walter* (grandson, 8, born Wood Bastwick, Norfolk) and a boarder, Edward REEVE (22, single, horseman on farm, born Thorpe St Andrew, Norfolk). Form signed Walter Minter. * The identity of the 8 year-old Walter Minter hasn't been firmly established (no record of his birth has been found). It's possible that he was the illegitimate son of Rebekah THROWER, who appeared in the 1891 census but hasn't been found subsequently. It seems likely that Walter was he who married in 1926, giving his age as 23 (which would tie up with his being 3 in 1911), and his father's name as 'Minter (deceased)'. For the time being it is being assumed that Walter was Rebecca (Rebekah)'s son but if more evidence comes to light it may be necessary to change this assumption - the fact that Walter did not appear with Rebecca and her husband in the 1911 census suggests the assumption may be wrong. 1939 Register: at 145 Angel Road, Norwich C.B., Norfolk Minter, Walter born 18 Jul 1875 (sic), married, general labourer Minter, Louisa born 20 Apr 1888, married, unpaid domestic
