  Notes	Unmarried and always known as Ernest (not shortened) but generous and kindly - he educated and treated as sons two local boys. He was prominent in work for child welfare, youth clubs and schools. He lived and died in one of the houses in Argyll Street [Arthur Street], Ryde which had been built upon the farmyard of his father.
