- 1851 census (indexed as MENTER by ancestry.com): Thomas was probably living as a servant, aged 24 at 11 Monkwell Street, St Olave Silver Street with John and Elizabeth PAYNE and family. John PAYNE was a tavern keeper. There is no sign of Thomas after that - he probably died in 1859: buried aged 30 of Devonshire St. E. Stepney.
