Trevor includes the following about his mother: Evelyn finished school at 14 and started work in the Post Office but didn't last very long, then went to work at Sedgwick drapers shop in Eastry, Kent. In 1937 she went into domestic service in Walmer, Kent and then Cornwall Gardens, London. She left domestic service in London in 1938 and joined the WRAF in 1939. She attained the rank of Sergeant. After demob she married Charles William Albert COX. Evelyn was stationed at Blackbush Aerodrome RAF base. She and her husband moved to Watford and then to Southend on Sea, Essex, first at 21 Glenhurst Road (with her in-laws), then to Redstock Road, then 44 Coleman Street and finally to 175 Bournemouth Park Road.
