  Notes	Although most refer to 'Ernest Minter' a set of service records at Ancestry.com appears to relate to Arthur Ernest. They show that he enlisted in the Royal Fusiliers on 15 March 1916 and was transferred to the Z Reserve on 26 February 1919, at which time his address was 5 St Johns Terrace, Shoreham by Sea. On one document a date of birth of 24 September 1880 is given; elsewhere ages of 35 and 38 are mentioned. None of these ties up with Arthur Ernest's true date of birth. Next-of-kin was given on one form as Mrs L Minter, 7 Buckingham Street, Shoreham, on another as George Minter, father, of the same address. On joining the army Arthur Ernest said he was a fisherman. While in the army, in France, Arthur Ernest had an appendectomy. This left him complaining that he was unable to do heavy work or lift heavy things and his condition appears to have persuaded the army medical examiners that there was under 20% disability. It's not shown whether a disability pension was awarded. 1921 census: at 27, John Street, Shoreham by Sea, Sussex (all MINTER), Arthur Ernest (head, 39, married, born Shoreham, Sussex, general labourer, out of work, was employed laying telephone at Lancing), Annie Rose (wife, 31, married, born Billingshurst, Sussex, home duties) and John Ernest (son, 4 months, born Shoreham, Sussex). England & Wales, National Probate Calendar (Index of Wills and Administrations),1861-1941, at Ancestry.co.uk, November 2010 MINTER Arthur Ernest of 123 Old Shoreham-road Shoreham-by-Sea Sussex died 17 August 1937 Probate Lewes 13 September 1937 to Annie Louisa March (wife of Arthur William March). Effects £117 18s 5d. By a strange and rather sad coincidence, Arthur Ernest died on the day of the inquest into his mother's death.
