  Notes	Annie Cane was probably the subject of the following census entries: 1891: aged 4, born Plumstead, at 3 New Thomas Street, Plumstead, with parents John and Mary E Cane, a sister and two brothers. 1901: aged 14, born Plumstead, a domestic servant at 6 Salisbury Cottages, High Street, Plumstead. It's not known what became of Annie's first husband. A search of the death registration index from 1905 to 1925 did not reveal anything but it's possible he was a WW1 casualty. He has not been found in the 1891 or 1901 censuses. He does however appear in the 1911 census: at 38 Garland Street, Plumstead, London (4 rooms) (all LAFFERTY), Stephen Thomas (head, married, labourer, shell factory (Government), born Gravesend, Kent), Annie (wife, 25, married 6 years, 5 children 3 living, 2 dead, born Plumstead, London), Annie Amy (daughter, 6, born Plumstead, London), Earnest Albert (son, 3, born Attwood, Ontario, Canada), Doris May (daughter, 5 months, born Plumstead, London) and William John (brother, 38, single, labourer, gun packing (Government, born Aldershot, Hants). February 2009: email contact from Christian Lafferty. Annie Lafferty was his great grandmother. He hasn't been able to find out what became of Stephen Lafferty. Christian adds that "Peggy (née Minter) and James Constable, known as Auntie Peggy & Uncle Jim to me, used to visit us when I was a kid. They were a lovely couple.".
