| Notes |
- In 1891 Henry was with his brother Matthew at 4 Sun Court, Chelsea, aged 25, an agrcultural labourer.
1901 census: at 65 Cheyne Walk, Chelsea, Henry (34, general labourer) and Alice (34).
London, England, Workhouse Admission and Discharge Records, 1764-1930 at ancestry.com incldes the following:
Admitted to the Britten Street Workhouse in Chelsea on 4 August 1903, Henry Minter, carman, C of E, born 1866, brought by police, lunatic?
A subsequent record in the same collection shows that Henry, aged 40, was discharged from the Chelsea Workhouse on 15 June 1907, to Cane Hill Asylum.
Cane Hill Asylum was a psychiatric hospital in Coulsdon in the London Borough of Croydon. Henry probably died there in 1915 although I can't find a 1911 census record for him. There were hundreds of inmates in the Cane Hill asylum when the 1911 census was taken but they are identified only by initials. I've looked through the pages and the most likely entry I can find reads:
H.M., age 44, married, general labourer, born Chelsea, lunatic
The record can be found using these identifiers: RG14, piece 3281, reg, dist. 39, sub dist. 1.
1911 census: As Alice Minter, 44, married, worker, born --- Knightsbridge, Emily Alice was a boarder with William and Maud BILLINGTON and their daughter Violet at 9 Crimea Gardens, Chelsea (3 rooms).
1921 census: at 46, Lots Road, Chelsea, London, eMILY aLICE minter (53, widow, born Knightsbridge, London, cleaner at Board of Trade, Cromwell Road, Kensington.
The 1939 Register shows Henry's wife as a widow:
at Saint Lukes Hospital, Sydney Street, Chelsea, London
Minter, Emily A born 25 Aug 1867, patient, widow, cleaning (private house)
