"...some women - particularly widows could vote in Council Elections and Parochial elections well before 1918. My Ancestor Elizabeth Minter (was Ellison) was found as a voter in 1901 at the Minter home of 22, Oak street, Barnsley."

My Gt. grandmother Elizabeth Ellison/ Minter had a fuller notice in 1914. Again, I'm afraid I have lost the original date of the paper.

Minter - In ever loving memory of our dear mother Elizabeth Minter, widow of John Minter, who passed peacefully away May 15th, 1914, aged 80 years, and was interred at Barnsley Cemetery, May 19th, 1914. (NB also a linen worker, had heart disease; notified by daughter Elizabeth Ann Barton).
