      Raymond D. (Jake) Minter Sr., age 74, of 5603 Halcun Drive, N.E., died Saturday, July 27, 1991.

      He was a member of Preston Oaks Baptist Church and Melrose Lodge No. 139 A.F. & A.M. He was a retired brakeman for the N & W Railway.

      Surviving are his wife, Helen Brillhart Minter; one son, R.D. Minter Jr., Roanoke; one daughter, Carolyn Minter Blackwell, Culpeper; two granddaughters, Nancy Caroline Blackwell and Heather Lynn Blackwell; two brothers, Edward Minter, Roanoke; Len Minter; two sisters, Ida Watts, Roanoke; Myrtle Thomas, Thaxton.

      Funeral services will be conducted from Oakey's North Chapel 1:00 p.m. Monday, July 29, with the Rev. James Millsaps officiating. Burial will be in Sherwood Memorial Park. Friends may call at Oakey's North Chapel from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Sunday where the family will receive friends.
