      Virginia Beach - Therese (Tina) Henriette Stuart Thatcher Minter died peacefully at home on November 21, 2017 at age 63 after a courageous battle with metastatic ocular melanoma, a rare and aggressive cancer. A daughter of Dr. Joseph Owen Mullanphy Thatcher and AnnaLee Stuart Thatcher, she was born in Jacksonville, FL on July 15, 1954. Tina graduated from Virginia Tech and taught school for 3 years before entering real estate sales. She was a real estate broker with Howard Hanna, formerly William E. Wood & Associates, and a 35 year Circle of Excellence award winner. Tina was a faithful parishioner at Ft. Story Catholic Chapel, a member of the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America, Virginia Beach Garden Club, Princess Anne Hills Garden Club, and active with the Chrysler Museum. She was a child of God, devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, grateful sister, aunt, and friend. Tina is survived by her husband of 38 years, Michael, daughters Elizabeth Minter of Richmond, VA and Ridgely Swingle (Michael) of Arlington, VA, and grandchildren James Swingle and Catherine Swingle, as well as by her sisters Mimi Davidson (Bill), JoeAnn Gerrity (Ed), Cherie Brickey (Art), and brothers Tom (Jean), Paul (Susi), and Joe. Tina will be remembered for her unwavering faith, dedication to family and friends, optimistic attitude, contagious enthusiasm, kindness, passion for conservation, and zest for life. She will be deeply missed. The family is grateful for her caring and skilled medical teams at Thomas Jefferson University, University of Pittsburgh, Columbia University, and locally Dr. Kapoor and Dr. Bremmer. We would also like to thank family and friends for their continuous support, and Compassionate Care Hospice and Elizabeth Hoggany and team for their assistance. A visitation will be held at H.D Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Road Chapel on Thursday, November 30th from 6 to 8pm. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, 5345 Virginia Beach Blvd, on Friday, December 1st at 11am. Tina requested that bright colors be worn at her funeral.
