  Notes	1841 census: not found. It seems likely that Richard married Sarah Brown in Wootton, Lincs in 1834, although there are two things which cast some doubt on this: 1. in the Wootton marriage register Richard is decribed as 'of this parish' whereas it might have been expected to say 'of Kirton'. 2. on the 1851 census Richard's birthplace was shown as Elsham (which is where he was living when the census was done), not Kirton. On the other hand, the age shown, 43, agrees pretty well with Richard of Kirton and, in the 1861 census, Richard's birthplace was shown as Kirton in Lindsey. 1851 census: in Elsham, Lincs (indexed as Ritchard Hunsley and recorded as such) (all HUNSLEY), Ritchard (head, 43, ag lab, born Elsham, Lincs), Sarah (wife, 33, born Wootton, Linces), Eleanor (daughter, 14, scholar, born Elsham), Carling [Caroline] (daughter, 12, born Elsham), Martha (daughter, 10, scholar, born Barnetby, Lincs), Elizabeth (daughter, 7, scholar, born Barnetby, Lincs), Sarah (daughter 4, born Elsham) and Hannah M (daughter, 5 months, born Elsham). The death of a Sarah Hunsley was registered at Glanford Brigg RD in Q4 1854 - probably Richard's wife since he appeared in the 1861 census as a widower: 1861 census: in Brigg, Lincs (indexed as Richard Hansley) (all HUNSLEY), Richard (lodger, widower, 52, labourer, born Kirton Lindsey, Lincs), Ann [Hannah] Maria (daughter, 10, born Elsham) and Georgeana (daughter, 8, born Elsham). Richard's death was probably that registered at Glanford Brigg in Q1 1863. I haven't discovered much of what became of Richard and Sarah's daughters.

  	Richard Hunsley of this parish and Sarah Brown of this parish, by banns. Both marked. Witnesses George Procter, Mary Hunsley & John Hucksmith. This is probably Richard's marriage, although Wootton is some 19 miles from Kirton. Elsham, where the children were baptised is between Wootton and Kirton.
