He stayed at the school until 25 September 1891, when he left the parish. * this date doesn't match the date from Athelstan's death record or the entry in the BMD index. Florence Wilkie, nee Minter writes in September 2006: I remember seeing a photo of [Athelstan Herbert] in military uniform when he married Elvie Pope. I think he was connected to railways in England then Rhodesia South Africa. Three sons Erroll, Dick, Roger were born there. Erroll served in Air Force. I don't know what Dick did. Roger was captain on oil tanker. Erroll's widow Hazel lives in England. Hazel Minter added (in November 2006) that Athelstan's sons were named after friends of the 1914 - 18 war.
