No trace of their parents. Witness at St George Ramsgate, Thanet on 10 July 1855. A coastguard at Ramsgate in 1856. A police officer at Ramsgate between 1858 and 1861. 1861 census: at 3 Townley Street, Ramsgate, Kent, William H (36, police constable, born Eastry, Kent), Jane (38, born Washington, Sussex), George W (17, shoemaker, born Paddington, Middx), Georgiana (8, scholar, born Hertford) and Albert (6, scholar, born Eastry). No trace of John. A police officer at Townley Street, Ramsgate in 1863. 1871 census: at 5 Townley Street, Ramsgate, Kent, William H (47, porter, born Eastry, Kent), Jane (48, born Washington, Sussex), Georgiana (18, servant, born Hertford, Herts), Albert (16, brickmaker, born Eastry, Kent), William H (13, plasterer, born Ramsgate, Kent), Charles (9, scholar, born Ramsgate, Kent) and Frederick A (7, scholar, born Ramsgate, Kent). Also staying were Mary Ann DRAYSON, (39, niece, unmarried, tailoress) and Minnie A. WOOD, (9, niece, scholar). Son George William (27) was a hospital porter at the Kent Ophthalmic Hospital, Maidstone. Appeared in the Post Office Directory of 1878 as William Henry Minter, lodging house keeper, 5 Townley Street, Ramsgate. 1881 census: William lived with his daughter Georgiana (qv) at 39 Alexandra Road, St Lawrence. Son George William was living at 6 St John Street, Margate, aged 36 a general labourer. 1891 census: at 8 Kent Place, Ramsgate, William H (66, luggage porter), 3rd wife Eliza H (53, born Deal) and George H FORWARD (stepson, 19, billiard marker, born Ramsgate). Melville & Co 1895 Directory, Ramsgate includes W H Minter, 8 Kent Place, Ramsgate. Appeared in Kelly's Directory for Kent, 1895 as William Minter, apartments, 8 Kent Place, Ramsgate. William may have died in Q1 1898, aged 73, St Olave Bermondsey 1d/97, but why would he have been in Bermondsey? The fact that William's wife is listed in 1899 under her own name, supports the idea that William died in 1898. Melville & Co 1899 Directory, Ramsgate and St Lawrence includes Mrs W H Minter, lodging house, 8 Kent Place, Ramsgate. Kelly's Directory and Guide of the Isle of Thanet, 1897 - 98 includes W H Minter, 8 Kent Place, Ramsgate. Kelly's Directory and Guide of the Isle of Thanet, 1898 - 99, 1900 - 01 and 1901 - 02 include Mrs W H Minter, 8 Kent Place, Ramsgate (lodging house keeper). Kelly's Directory of Kent, 1899 includes Mrs E Minter, 8 Kent Place, Ramsgate (apartments). 1901 census: at 8 Kent Place, Ramsgate, Eliza H (62, widow, lodging house keeper on her own account).
