Also George Minter (45, farm servant) - relationship given only as servant. Appeared in the 1852 Post Office Directory of Kent (Kelly's) as Thomas Minter, farmer, Goodnestone. Appeared in the Directory of Kent, Melville & Co, 1858 as Thomas Minter, farmer, Goodnestone. Church warden at Goodnestone next Wingham in 1854-55. 1861 census: at 'George Inn', 37 Gabriels Hill, Maidstone, Kent, Thomas (47, victualler), Susan (51), Ann W (16), Mary (13) and Henry (11). 1 house servant. Daughter Sarah (20) was a linen draper's assistant in Cornhill, Ilminster, Somerset. Daughter Susan (17) was a linen draper's assistant at 49/50 Newington Causeway, Newington, London (although the census form gives her birthplace as 'Godstone, Surrey' rather than Goodnestone, Kent). 1871 census: lodged with Louisa Stockwell at 12 Milbank Road, Ashford, Kent, Thomas (58, widower, farm bailiff (out of employ)). 1881 census: at Purchase, Great Chart, Kent, Thomas (68, widower, farm bailiff) with daughter Mary (unmarried, 33, housekeeper) and grandson Harry T (8, scholar, born Penge, Surrey).
