Living at Twitham in November 1851. Paid rates at Twitham in 1854 and 1864. Church warden at Wingham in 1838, 52 and 54. Overseer in 1858, 60. 1861 census: at Twitham Farm, Wingham, Kent, William (51, farmer of 146 acres employing 10 labourers and 2 boys), Emma (55) and Emily (9, scholar). One house servant. Appeared in F G Harrod & Co's Postal and Commercial Directory of Kent, 1867 as William Minter, farmer of Twitham, Wingham. 1871 census: at Twitham Farm, Wingham, Kent, William (61, farmer of 132 acres employing 7 labourers and 4 boys), Emma (65) and Emily (19). Appeared in Kelly's Directory of Kent, 1878 as William Minter, farmer, Twitham, Wingham. 1881 census: at Twitham Farm, Wingham, Kent, William (71, farmer of 150 acres employing 6 labourers and 3 boys), Emma (76) and sister Sarah BING (widow, 70, annuitant). One general domestic servant. Appeared in Kelly's Directory of Kent, 1882 as William Minter, farmer, Twitham. England & Wales, National Probate Calendar (Index of Wills and Administrations),1861-1941 (at Ancestry.co.uk, Nov 2010): 7 September 1882 Personal Estate £386 5s. The Will of William Minter formerly of Ickham but late of Twitham in the Parish of Wingham both in the County of Kent Farmer who died 18 May 1882 at Twitham was proved at the Canterbury by Emma Minter of Twitham Widow the Relict the sole Executrix. 1891 census: now a widow of 85, living on her own means, Emma lived with her daughter Emily and her husband John HARVEY in Easole Street, Nonington, Kent. Cliff Minter - from tombstone at Goodnestone next Wingham: In affectionate remembrance of William Minter of Twitham Wingham who died May 18th 1882 aged 72 years. ----- In loving memory of Emma Minter widow of the late William Minter of Twitham who died March 19th 1901 in her 96th year.
