This may be because he emigrated to the USA - in the US census the following appears: 1880: in Lincoln, Saline, Nebraska, George (aged 51, farming), Lucinda (wife, 36, born Illinois, keeping house), Minnie (daughter, 14, at school), William G (son, 9, born Illinois, at school) and Mary E (7, born Nebraska, at school). 1900: in Anderson Island, Lake Bay, Long Branch, McNeil Island, Minter, and Vaughn Precincts, Pierce, Washington, George Minter (head, born Nov 1827, age 72, born England, arrived in US in 1848) and his wife Lucinda (born June 1849, married 35 years, 3 children all living, born Illinois, father born Ireland).
