    Notes
    • 1841 census: in Ickham Street, Ickham, George (30, farmer), Edward (25, farmer) and John (20, farmer).

In 1854 & 1864, paid rates as residing at Oast House, Preston Hill.

      1851 & 1861 censuses - with mother Kezia (qv).

A farmer of Cleve Court Monkton.

Possibly he who appeared in F G Harrod & Co's Postal and Commercial Directory of Kent, 1867 as George and John Minter, farmers of Wingham.

      1871 & 1881 censuses - with brother George (qv)

In 1884, living at Wickhambreaux with freehold house and land at Wingham Hill.

Appeared in Kelly's Directory of Kent, 1887 as John Minter, farmer, Frognell, Wickhambreaux.

In February 2024 I found an intriguing entry in Wisden. A John Minter, born 30 Nov 1817, died 30 Nov 1892, played cricket for the 'Gentlemen of Kent'. Stats are given for just one match, in which John Minter scored 27 runs in two innings, highest score 18. Hard to say whether this was John Minter of Ickham but although the exact dates are wrong, the years match.
According to a Wikipedia article about The Gentlemen of Kent, John Minter played for the side only once, in 1843.
The website at www.cricinfo.com/england/content/player/17892.html says that John Minter played first-class cricket in 1843 for the Gentlemen of Kent.

In 1889, living at Frognall Stodmarsh and at Wickhambreaux, a farmer.

IN 1891, John was living with his nephew George M GOODSON (30, unmarried, farmer) and George's mother Kezia GOODSON (74, widow, living on own means).

England & Wales, National Probate Calendar (Index of Wills and Administrations),1861-1941 (at Ancestry.co.uk, Nov 2010):
MINTER John of Cleve court Monkton Thanet Kent farmer died 9 March 1893 at Upton St Peter's Kent Probate Canterbury 3 May 1893 to George Minter Goodson and Edward Stephen Goodson farmers Effects £10795 19s 3d.
