- Richard had many land grants from the Crown in 1724, 1727, 1732, 1738 and 1740. He lived in Prince George Shire, Brunswick Shire, and Dinwiddie Shire, but lived in the same location as new Shires were formed, it put their land in the newly named counties.
Richard was the first Ledbetter to acquire land in the then pioneer County of Brunswick County on Feb. 2, 1724.
Between November 7 - December 5, 1734: Appointed overseer of a "Bridle Way" from Quarrel Swamp at Henry Ledbetter's old path to the old westward ford on the Meherrin River and from there to Tatum's Road.
