| Notes |
- The 1826 Essex Poll Book, Borough of Maldon, has entries for Charles and William Minter, both mariners of Maldon. (Source Ancestry.com, UK, Poll Books and Electoral Registers, 1538-1893). These entries are thought to relate to this Charles Minter and his father William.
No trace of marriage of Charles and Sarah.
1841 census: in Fulbridge, Maldon, Charles (40, mariner), Sarah (36) and Jane (8).
British Postal Service Appointment Books, 1737-1969 at Ancestry.co.uk, August 2011:
'Appoint Charles Minter a messenger from Maldon to Pudleigh, if qualified, on the recommendation of J B Lennard Esq MP, vice Saltmarsh, dismissed. [signed] 17th June 1850.'
1851 census: in Fulbridge, Maldon, Charles (51, letter carrier), Sarah (47), Jane (18), Mary Ann (8) and Sarah Ann (3).
1861 census: in Private house, St Peters, Maldon, Sarah (57, widow of postman) and Sarah (13, dressmaker). In the same house but as a separate household, Jane BARBROOK (head, 27, wife of mariner) and her sons Charles BARBROOK (8, scholar) and Henry BARBROOK (5, scholar). Jane was Sarah's daughter, who married in 1855.
1871 census: Sarah (widow, 66) lived in Mill Lane, Fulbridge, Essex with her son-in-law Henry BARBROOK, his wife Jane BARBROOK, together with Charles MINTER (described as son-in-law, 18, moulder) and Henry BARBROOK (15, groom). Charles was born in 1853 before Jane married and evidently retained the surname MINTER.
1881 census: Sarah (widow, 77) still lived in Mill Lane, Fulbridge with her son-in-law Henry BARBROOK and his family.
