Directory entries found by Kath Chaveli:
In 1858 Kelly’s Directory properties in Shouldham St were small shops (including no 49) therefore Will & Emma may have lived in premises above the shop
1862 London Postal Commercial Dir lists William Semper , beer retailer, 3 Portland Place NottingHill W
1863/4 Marylebone Directory lists William Semper, beer retailer 28 Gt Quebec St (now Upper Montagu St I think) and is also listed as paying rates at that property from 25th March Lady day 1862 of £5.3.6 until 1865 when he leaves.

1861 census: William (30, married*, no occupation given, born Bath, Somerset) was living with brother Alfred (24) at 14 Great Carlisle Street [now Penfold Street], St Marylebone, Middlesex.
      * wife Emma seems to have been living as Emma POVEY, as the following census entry reveals:-
1861 census: at 11 Howley Place, Paddington, Emma POVEY (unmarried), (38, cook, born Benham, Berks) and Louisa POVEY (unmarried, 22, housemaid, born Benham, Berks), were servants with the GIRDWOOD family (as in 1851 as far as Emma is concerned, and despite the fact that Emma had married in 1858).
(Louisa POVEY was probably Emma's sister - she appeared with William and Mary POVEY in the 1841 census, aged 2.)

The death registration of William SIMPER (sic) at age 36 (sic) in Q2 1867 is thought to refer to this William SEMPER.
