- June 2012: Collin Unwin emails as follows:
"Lydia Unwin who married Filmer Minter was my gt gt granddad (Henry Gosling Unwin)'s sister.
I have a wealth of Unwin info for anyone descended from Lydia, if they are interested.
Her Unwin line is extremely-well documented back to 1475, by research in 1917 then further ratified in 1947 and printed by Sir Stanley Unwin.
Lydia's gt granddad was a Stephen Unwin. He married an Elizabeth Petto (Peyto) This is an interesting marriage as Elizabeth's father and grandfather were men of the church, so their lives are well-documented. One of Lydia Unwin's maternal ancestors was a Sir Greville Verney.
The Verney family are documented back to ad 1045 in Vernais in France.
So it would follow that any Minters descended from Lydia have some Norman conqueror genes in there somewhere!
As with all ancestry research back past a certain date, I would only claim to be 97% certain.
So if any Minter would like to know more, please feel free to contact me and I will give you access to the Unwin tree on ancestry."
September 2015: I now have access to the ancestry.com tree, and hace extracted some details from it.
