- A cabinet maker of Sandwich, Kent.
Buried at age 47. Will proved on 17 February 1824 at Canterbury Consistory Court.
Further information from Merrilyn Minter's article in the September 2006 issue of the Kent Family History Journal:
George...made his will 16 August 1823. In this will George requested that, at the discretion of the executors, William POTT of Sandwich, gentleman, and John DENNE of Sandwich, cabinet maker, he was to be buried "in a plain brick grave in the Church Yard of Margate in the Parish of St John the Baptist in the Isle of Thanet in the said County as near as may be to the Grave in which the remains of my Father and Mother were deposited." George also mentions his wife Mary, his brother Henry Minter and his now wife Sarah, (illegible in the copy I have, but William according to someone else) and his wife Jane, sister Maria and her husband Thomas POTTS of Margate, brother of John Minter, and sister Hannah. Witnesses to George's signature were Jno DEBOCK and Thos COLEMAN of Sandwich.
Tombstone at St John Margate reads:
Sacred to the memory of Mr George Minter, lately of Sandwich who died 5 October 1823 aged 48 years
Also of Mr George Minter senior who died 11 February 1798 age 49 years [parish register gives year as 1797]
Also of Hannah wife of George Minter senior who died 16 June 1811 age 61 years (?)
Also of Mary Birch relect of the first named George Minter born 26 Sept 1779 died 16 Sept 1831.
