In August 1938 Sir Frederick visited New Zealand as a delegate at the British Coomonwealth Relations Conference. A report in the Auckland Star of 22 August 1938 said:
"[Sir Frederick] has a special interest in visiting New Zealand for a week, since he was an engineer at Otira, Canterbury, during the construction of the Otira Gorge Tunnel in 1908. He was responsible for the restoration of the famous King's Beasts at St. George's Chapel, Windsor Castle."

On 12 July at Warnford, Sir Frederick Minter, GCVO. Loved father of Fred John and Robert, president of F G Minter Ltd. Funeral private. No flowers but gifts instead to Royal Alexandra and Albert Schools, Reigate would be appreciated.
