Notes |
- It has been stated that William was born in 1758 in Campsea Ash, Suffolk, the son of John Minter (born 1718, Marlesford) and Sarah Whittle. This seems unlikely because William of Campsea Ash married Elizabeth Johnson (1766 - 1849). The date for the marriage is unknown but there were a number of children: Mary Ann (1793), Samuel (1795), William (1797), Martha (1800), Elizabeth (1802), John (1805) and Sarah (1808).
It follows that unless bigamy was involved, the man who married Hannah Garrod in 1803 cannot have been William of Campsea Ash and we do not therefore know when Hannah's husband was born or where he came from.
