    • The Belfast News-Letter of 27 March 1868 carried a birth announcement "Bredin - March 6 at Gibraltar, the wife of Lieut.-Colonel Bredin, RA, of a son.

      Edgar enlisted in the Canadian Over-seas Expeditionary Force on 14 February 1917. He gave his date of birth as 11 March 1873, birthplace Gibraltar, his calling as engineer, address 1110 Gough Street, San Francisco, next of kin Mrs Ethel Bredin of the same address.

      The 1930 US Federal Census indicates that Edgar immigrated into the USA in 1912. The details are:
      at 1466 Post Street, San Francisco, California (all BREDIN, all born in England), Edgar C (head, 62, aged 25 when first married, clerical work in an office), Ethel A (wife, 48, aged 15 when first married) and Viola (daughter, 30, single).
